Eight exchange scholars and exchange students from UA and ASU went to the Grand Canyon trip during Jan. 19-20, 2019. This is the first time that Mr. Zhao is going solo with the group, driving, preparing food, and tour guiding. Thank God, everyone enjoyed the trip, and not-so-cold winter Grand Canyon.
As usual, we went to bell rock the Saturday afternoon. As usual, the highway 17 is slow, and the trip was delayed by about 40 minutes. Some of us had a good time climbing up near the peak of the Bell rock. The scenery changes with each ascend of the climb.
We arrived to the Sunset Crater Park before dark, the coldest point of the trip. Sunset is wonderful. (2 pics below)
Left early on Sunday morning and we arrived Grandview point for Grand Canyon sunrise. Best part of this trip was the snow. Never saw snow and sunrise here before. The ground is covered with snow. Few of us was able to go down a little bit to the normal platform for seeing sunrise, but the trail was too icy. (4 pics below)
This is during the government shutdown, so no movie to watch, no opening at visitor center.
The bright angel trail is also covered with snow and ice. Only few people with snowshoes were able to hike down. We are able to walk slowly to the window and back. But the snow at Grand Canyon is beautiful. (4 pics below)
We drove to the Hermits Rest and visited few view points. Had fun. (4 pics below)
Thank God, the weather is good, and the view is fantastic!
